Royal blue must be one of my favortie colours - in anything, any yarn quality, garment I own , heck: when printing riso or maybe choosing the odd pot from the kitchen shelves to cook with- Royal blue takes first choice.
And now , right now, as Berlin summer weather starts slowly warming up, we are talking lino muka crafting and I am besotted with this disco trousers project in the colourway Royal Blue.
Thanks to my own “holding myself accountable” via podcasting , yes the project is in my hands again -finally- and as I sit here in Berlin/ Wedding knitting round and round in circles I am getting excited it won’t be long until I can wear them.
I just need the courage to drop those stitches soon….
Please feel invited to hear & see more about this, and other projects, if you have a moment you can visit me in my small corner of Podcastland,
with Ep69 Woolly Three awaiting you 24/7 whenever you have time to sit and watch it.
I would be so honoured to have you over for tea:)
I know mini Charlie cat is a distraction, but I promise - if looking closely you can see- she sists right next to the small royal blue milk pot I use daily for warming up Chai :)
At the moment I am very much turning towards my zine-making as a creative outlet and finishing all the items I have on my needles for I sense a mood of finish-that-thing in my soul.
Podcasting made me realise that I have four lino muka craft-along projects on my needles currently only finishing one test-knit yet during linomukakal2025 and how these four should become my priority right now. I am happily doubling down and double dipping with magic 3 make-along as well…
There are many ideas swirling through my mind- for cast on after cast on could happen -friends near and far who inspire me endlessly are crafting along-side me in our yarnchix community. But there is the hope to complete some long standing works-in-progress before I get carried away with it all and I am excited to tie them together in sets , maybe making sense of the new ideas whilst pairing them alongside the projects I push to finish first.
Anyway, as a result I also thought it might be helpful to share with you - kind reader- the guidance the Tarot Knit Oracle provided for me personally at the end of my recent Yarnchix Podcast Episode 69…
Every time I sit and record a podcast I also draw a card from one of my Tarot Decks. As part of my podcast I edit & include the Tarot Knit Oracle as well as the “knit reportage” for extra entertainment and information. (this Episode has a knit reportage from Edinburgh/Scotland and shows glimpses of my visit to Woolly Good Gathering Festival 2025).
Tarot Knit Oracle (Spoiler)
In Episode 69 I used the Pagan Cat Tarot deck and I loved the card and the resulting reflection for myself. Usually I would have a specific question, either considering my own thoughts, crafting and the world, or a member of the community reaches out to me for their specific concern might need my card to support them…
Well, this time I simply said : cards please guide me.
card VII the Chariot
It brought about the perspective for me to look inwards and find guidance for my own path through making a clearer choice.
What is it I want from this journey, my creativity and productivity? So, in this instance, the cards asked me a question instead.
Where do I want to go? My path is mine to define and find, even through trial and error, and the piceses soul that I am, swims along in a calm yet bouncy, easily distraced fashion most of the time. But here I had a chance, a moment to sit and reflect:
finding determination and believing in my own strengths will provide clarity and success.
This question can be also utilised in connection with my constant dilemma in crafting wips vs new cast ons. Here, I found new hope with work-in-progress finishing and encouraging myself to make creativity happen through what I am already working on, aka commiting to the groundwork and then finding clarity for what next to work on from that onwards… solid base & creative flow together can provide a path :)
My own progress will travel further by letting my flowing, free spirited side also find a connection with the bigger picture I envision for my long-term path: and this also when considering my long-term dreams.
And so now, after a moment of reflecting what it is I am moving towards I was briefly awstruck. As yes, through coincidences and connections in my community (let’s call it flow) I found a room we aptly named Studio 104 to work in, my own artist studio shared with three others : we use the space for creative work taking turns or working along-side each other (this is a solid ground to build on).
So, I hosted the first ever Liebes Wedding Strickt community craft night in Studio 104 last week and it felt like a party celebrating this oportunity I have found for myself and it felt very special to invite friends over.
The chariot simply says: move forward with your dreams, Mimi.
And in the spirit of sharing and caring from the Tarot Knit Oracle
I edge you onwards alongside me…
What is your dream, where are you heading?
With many hopes forwarded from me:
I am happy to share about my projects, connecting what I already started with what I hope to make next. Including this new amazement to make things in the colour royal blue as well as noticing the royal blue I already use in my everyday.
A strong colour, a freshly inspired person on her blue path forwards.
My dream to make my artistic practice and my writing a bigger part of my day-to-day life, as in work less in the hamster-wheel and create more Yarnchix stuff like events, goodies and zines, and recognising the journey for me to get there is made up by little steps.
It is good to open up to the card and its question to me and finding guidance from seeing my dreams take shape in front of me.
Much love,
and speak soon ,
Mimi
