It has been a while since I made an entirely new item - something brandnew for my shop, but this month is different: for the open house with Nora aka Kiezgarn on the first weekend of beautiful May I produced the newest yarnchix goods item:
a progress-keeper in the shape of an ice-cream cone with three scoops of cold goodness made from tiny glas beads.
I chose the colours rose= for Strawberry, light green= for Pistacchio and cream= for Vanilla. The progress-keeper has a little clasp attached and the cone was made using bright yellow glas beads.
I was so delighted to see them receive some interest and sell most of the first batch already whilst at Nora Kiezgarn's studio as a pop up.
Now I updated my etsy shop, with zines, bags and yarnchix goods that I have left from the event . Including five of the progress-keepers pictured above.
Here is a screenshot of how my etsyshop page looks and a glimpse of the small yet helpfull things I sell:
On Sunday I took my youngest for a walk through our neighborhood and we treated ourselves to the best icecream near and far. How lucky are we that “My Daddy’s Gelato” is a 10 min walk along the Panke from our house?!
My child chose Passion-fruit/ Mint plus Mango and I went for Chocolate sorbet and toasted Coconut (both are vegan flavours from this amazing place.)

In other news:
I just finished a test-knit. It has been years since I uploaded anything to ravelry and definitely a long time since I test-knitted for someone. I guess it was the rib-lace raglan I made in lino muka a design by James N Watts 2022, who I adore and it still is a favorite amongst my lino muka makes, to be honest.
This time I test-knit for Garloedesign, Alessandra Gropazzi created a really cool light and airy scarf using lino muka with one thread (which I hardly ever knit single-stranded, but watch me- this might start me off ; ) and wow: what a result. The brioche style alternation of two colours created an extermely cool pattern.
Its reversible look emerged on my needles whilst working on the pattern repeat and it got easier and easier to remember the sequence.
Her design Through the light scarf is now available via ravelry and I am glad I got to try this advanced knitter’s dream of “brain-jogging” where I focused and focused and now am utmost smitten with the little scarf made from the two colourways
Brimstone & Cherry Blossom.
Again I think it is a very ice-cream coloured item and it felt just perfect to add it to this letter, a postcard from ice-cream-colour-inspired me.
much love,
Mimi
Other things I love:
I went on a bike ride through town and sat on the jetty at Insel der Jugend in Treptower Park, what a vivid secenery of boats and people, blue skies and blue river all around us- a weekend moment with strolling and relaxed Berliners _ how fun to share a fresh summer moment in this city with others.
Today I baked vegan scones and will try and make some more for this months #liebesweddingstrickt, we are meeting in my Studio 104 space, a creative haven I have carved out for myself and friends here in the middle of the city (more about that in another newsletter).
Tuesday 27th May & Tuesday 24th June are the upcoming craft circle nights, 19-22h . Obviously yarnchix goods and zines will be displayed for you to check out :)
Comment to find out more, if you are nosy. We meet every last Tuesday of the month , every one brings along their own projects and we sit together and chat… we speak in various languages, jumping between English and German for example. Every crafter is welcome, who welcomes all crafters in turn.
I am loving the cool makes I am spotting both irl at work and through ig of our annual linenlove craft-along #linomukakal2025 by Wollen Berlin amazing makes indeed.
magic 3 make-along is equally as inspiring with friends picking up their projects, sharing drawings of their plans, near and far. I am so so gald I have you as my craft-community! For example you can check out Woollenhearted or Under.Eagle.Mountains for their topical youtube podcast chats including magic3mal plans :)
Tomorrow I record and then this week will upload a new Podcast to my own youtube channel, with Magic3mal2025 as a focused theme including crafterly double-dipping.
I have this precious skein from Kiezgarn, Nora gifted me it for my birthday after she saw me coo-ing over the Späti Graffiti colourway at work and I am besotted.
Hence a cast on is called for and yes, it will become a small item for #magic3mal2025
